Germany will promote the development of Industry 4.0 global standards

Release date:2020-03-27

China News Agency, Berlin, April 20 (Reporter Peng Dawei) The German industry and the country's standardization authority announced on the 20th that they will formally establish the "Industry 4.0 Standardization Council" at the Hannover Industrial Exhibition, which opens on the 25th of this month. To propose relevant standards for Industry 4.0 digital products and coordinate their implementation in Germany and globally.

Industry 4.0 is a national strategy proposed by the German government. This large concept includes solutions, industry, and technology. It describes the future of fully using information technology in factories and highly interconnected systems.

According to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the “future of the German economy lies in Industry 4.0”. Germany expects to make itself a leading supplier of Industry 4.0 through the "Digital Agenda" as well as Europe's leading digital economy to promote economic growth. Some studies predict that, under smooth development, by 2025, Industry 4.0 will likely bring about 200 billion to 425 billion euros in growth.

Prior to this, Germany had issued the "Industry 4.0 Standardization Roadmap". As the first advocate of this concept, Germany hopes to continue to lead the development of Industry 4.0 by leading the standardization process.

The institutions involved in the establishment of the above-mentioned "Industry 4.0 Standardization Council" include the German Federal Association for Information Economy, Communications and Media (Bitkom), the German Standardization Institute (DIN), the German Electrical and Electronic and Information Technology Council (DKE), the German Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Federation Association (VDMA) and the German Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association (ZVEI).

Through the establishment of the above council, Germany will form the "Industry 4.0 platform", "Industry 4.0 laboratory network" and "Industry 4.0 Standardization Council" three platforms to jointly promote the situation of Industry 4.0 from Germany to the world.

The "Industry 4.0 platform" is a coordination agency set up under the initiative of the German Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Gabriel and the Federal Minister of Education and Research Wanka, which is responsible for specifically promoting the Industrial 4.0 process. It has several special working groups. However, the newly established Industry 4.0 Standardization Council will not be attached to the Industry 4.0 platform, and its organizational structure will be set up within the German Electrical, Electronics and Information Technology Commission.
